Introduces students to the basics of forensic science in general. Emphasis is on the examination and chemical analysis of paint, glass, hair, plastic, soil and fibres, ink, drug, fire debris as well as body fluid analysis (blood, saliva, semen and ***l secretion). The role of forensic scientist in the laboratory as well as in court as an expert witness is also highlighted. The legal aspect and the role of forensic scientists as expert witnesses in courts will also be covered. Upon completion, students should be able to describe techniques used for forensic analysis of exhibits, to assess the significance of samples being investigated and to rationalize the legal, ethical aspects of forensic science
